Clarendon Day Photos and Company Performance October 7, 2014

The Adagio Dance Companies had their first performance of the season at Clarendon Day, and we got some great pictures!

The Ballet Company performed a mixed repertoire, combining some old favorites with a few new pieces.

“My favorite piece that we’re doing this year is ‘Les Sylphides’ because I get to dance with a large group and we have a lot of fun.”- Rachel, Ballet Company member

“My favorite is the opening part of our class demonstration because you have to be artistic and set the tone for the whole performance.”- Erin, Ballet Company Soloist

The Jazz/Contemporary Company had an all new rep with their first ever lyrical number, and the soloists performed a new piece as well.

Closed for Break June 29-July 6 June 27, 2014

Adagio Ballet and Dance School will be closed for our summer break next week, June 29 through July 6. Have a great Fourth of July!

Congratulations To All of our Performers! June 21, 2014

Congratulations to all of our lovely students that participated in the 10th Anniversary and Beatrix Potter Performances! All of the shows were such a success. We are so proud of all the hard work the dancers did to make such a lovely performance.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, family and friends that made this such an exciting experience for all of our dancers. And a special thanks to the Teachers and Staff that put so much time and energy for this performance to happen!

During our 10th Anniversary Performance, several students were featured telling their own stories of being at Adagio. Here is one student Leah:

I started dancing at a small new ballet school. I continued dancing at that ballet school, but it’s not new or small anymore. It was fun in that one room ballet studio, but a four roomed studio plus a black box theater is a more intense learning area. When I look back at Adagio over the years I have noticed how much it has done for me. As I have grown bigger dancing has become a part of me. For one thing it has made me flexible and agile but it has also helped me bond with friends and take pride in something. I have to say there are two things that I most like about Adagio. The first thing is how the teachers help us learn in a strict but helpful way. I know at some ballet schools that’s a different story so it just makes me appreciate Adagio. The other thing that I love about Adagio is the feeling I get when I’m dancing. When I was two I guess I didn’t feel it that much but as I’ve gotten older and moved into intensive I’m able to shut everything else out of my brain and just focus on dancing. Thank you for an amazing experience.

Regular Class Schedule Memorial Day May 20, 2014

We will hold our regular class schedule May 24-26 over the Memorial Day weekend.

SPRING BREAK NEXT WEEK! April 8, 2014

Regular classes will not run next week-Monday, April 14th-Sunday, April 20th-because of Spring Break. However, the front office will remain open from 9:00am-4:00pm Monday-Thursday and we will also be having an APPAREL SALE-20% off of everything! Please see our Spring Break Camp schedule on our registrations page if you haven’t done so already, and enjoy your Spring Break!

National Dance Week 2014 Events! March 27, 2014

We are happy to announce our events for National Dance Week 2014 – Friday, April 25th-Sunday, May 4th. Please see a list of ongoing and individual events below. We are offering events for all ages and abilities! Click “read more” below.

Ongoing National Dance Week Activities:

National Dance Week Poster Contest: Design a poster that follows the theme, “My Favorite Dance Memory.” These posters will be displayed around our school for everyone to see during National Dance week. Everyone who participates in this event will get a prize and the winning posters will receive a special award!

Eligible Participants: All Students

Dates: Posters are due the first day of National Dance Week – Saturday, April 25^th.

National Dance Week Canned Food Drive: Bring in your canned goods to donate to someone in need. Collection bins will be located at the front of our Arlington location.

Student Choreography Competition	Sunday,April 27th	3:30-4:30pm (ages 7-10)4:45-5:45pm (ages 11+)Black BoxARL location	All Students ages 7 and Up	Students are invited to show their love of dance by choreographing an original ballet, jazz, tap, modern or lyrical piece to their choice of music and showing the piece in our Arlington location’s Black Box Theater with professional lighting and sound. All participants will receive a prize and winners will receive a special award. Please RSVP at the Arlington location front desk.*Additional Rules and Guidelines for the NDW Choreography Competition:1) Pieces may include up to four dancers.2) Student choreography must be done entirely by students; no help from teachers or parents is permitted.3) Students must provide all costumes and props.4) Students must register at the front desk two weeks prior to participate. 5) Students can collaborate with other students from Adagio or outside friends. 6) Students must provide music on an iPod device for performance. 7) The maximum length of the piece should be one minute.
