Students and Parents – We are so excited about the upcoming Annual Recital 2011 – The Broken Doll!
To prepare your Student and yourself for this wonderful event, please check the Recitals portion of our website – there you will find Class Distribution, more on The Broken Doll story, and important Guidelines. Additionally, we have provided answers to some Frequently Asked Questions below.

• Why do I see two days, Saturday and Sunday, assigned to my Student’s Recital?
Regardless of the weekend your Student is scheduled to perform in, May 14-15 or June 18-19, there is a Dress Rehearsal on the Saturday, and a Recital on the Sunday. The Dress Rehearsal is mandatory.

• What is the exact time frame of the AM and the PM Rehearsal and Recital?
If your Student’s class is assigned to the AM slots, the time frame for the Rehearsal and the Recital is 10am-1pm on Saturday and on Sunday.
If your Student’s class is assigned to the PM slots, the time frame for the Rehearsal and the Recital is 2pm-5pm on Saturday and on Sunday.

• How long will the Recital be? When in the show will my Student’s class come on stage?
Each Recital will be approximately 1 hour and 15-30 minutes. Avoid planning to show up for a specific dance only – we do our best to make Recitals as short and as well-organized as possible. Entering and leaving the Auditorium during the performance can be distracting and inconsiderate of other Students’ hard work, and we should all try to avoid it.

• What exactly will happen during the Rehearsal? Why do we have a rehearsal?
The Dress Rehearsal allows us to ensure a smooth and successful performance. It allows the Students to become familiar with the stage, which has an entirely different dimension and feel to the classroom.
At the Rehearsal, we will run through every dance at least once, and we will also take portrait photography. Adagio Ballet Staff and Parent Volunteers will be in charge of taking classes to the stage to rehearse their dance and to the photographers to get their picture taken.

• Will anyone be helping with Hair?
Thanks to our wonderful Parent Volunteers, we are usually able to provide a “hair station” on Rehearsal Day. If you are planning on getting hair help, please make sure you arrive on time. You can also ask your Teachers about how to make a secure bun before the Recital rolls around!
